A Victory for Decent British Values

Parliament's vote to reject the Government's policy on Gurkhas wishing to come to the UK were hailed today as a victory for decent British liberal values.
Merlene Emerson, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary spokeswoman for Hammersmith said today "This is a victory for the values of decent British people, agree with Nick Clegg MP that those who are prepared to die for this country should be allowed to live in this country"
"The Gurkhas have been part of the British Army since the 19th century, and retired Gurkhas should have the right to settle here. The support of Conservatives and Labour members for the Liberal Democrats' motion shows how out of touch Gordon Brown's government is."
