The Planning Inspectorate has announced the date of the inquiry into the Council's decision on the Goldhawk Industrial Estate . It will start on Tuesday 25 May and is expected to end on 2 June (times from 10am to 5-5.30pm . The inquiry will be held at the Town Hall on King Street, and is open to the public.
Brackenbury Residents Association, which strongly opposed the proposed redevelopment of the the estate, has welcomed the decision of the Secretary of State to call in the application because of weaknesses in H&F Council's decision. The Residents Association had made detailed objections to the original application, to replace the 11 light industrial units with a dense development of 54 homes. Their objections were supported by expert professional opinion as well as residents' objections ; the Council w as determined to ignore these , as well as errors in the planning process itself.
Brackenbury Residents Association is now appealing for financial contributions to cover the costs of the inquiry - their barrister 's fee and some expert assessment and reports - and for volunteers who can assist at the hearing by taking notes or managing documents. Fund-raising is well underway but it's a long haul to reach £10,000 so any contributions will be welcome.
