Supporting his Party's policy of no tax on earnings below £10,000, Dirk Hazell, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Chelsea and Fulham, has sympathised with the seething resentment of local low paid workers:
"Local people tell me they are finding it so hard to make ends meet and a tax bill on top of very low wages can be the final straw for the household budget.
Fulham resident Paul Sinclair has shown me his tax demands amounting to about a quarter of his £4,000 taxable income in a recent tax year.
While I have strongly urged Mr Sinclair not to risk imprisonment as he protests against this unfair tax demand, one can only share his strong sense of injustice that so much is demanded by the taxman from so little.
Only a Liberal Democrat Government will right this wrong."
