The Tory Council's reported plan to sell off iconic Fulham Town Hall has come as a shock to many residents, particularly given the depressed state of the commercial property market and low levels of interest. But H&F Lib Dems believe it is symptomatic of the Tories' systematic neglect of the local community in Fulham.
Fulham Lib Dem spokesman Paul Kennedy said: "One can't help wondering how and why the Council has allowed the building to get into its current dilapidated state, and why it is so underused. The Council is happy to make the Town Hall available for the local Tory MP and Tory Councillors, but when a local residents association from Walham Green Court tried to hold a meeting there recently they were turned away. It's the same old story: stop residents using Council services, and then close them down because nobody is using them!"
