Why we are fighting for Fulham

I'm fighting this election for the Liberal Democrats because I believe our party has the right policies for the people of Fulham.

If I am elected, you will get a hard-working councillor who will get things done.

I will listen to you.

I will scrutinise the administration and hold the Tories to account on behalf of local residents.

Liberal Democrat councillors will work to make our streets safer, by supporting more police on the beat, and more activities for young people in Fulham, so they do not turn to crime or anti-social behaviour.

We will campaign for a safer, fairer, greener Fulham, and will work to improve the environment through more efficient waste recycling, and by increasing the Council's use of recycled materials. We will work to improve the energy efficiency of council buildings and better street cleaning. We will continue to oppose expansion of Heathrow Airport.

Liberal Democrat councillors will promote local businesses without prejudicing residents or damaging the environment. We will seek alternatives to developments that simply attract more traffic into Fulham. We will work to promote better bus and tube services, more cycle lanes and cycle stands, and campaign to make our roads safer for pedestrians. We will campaign for more resident parking especially on match days and a 20mph speed limit in residential streets.

Voters in Fulham are fed up with our broken politics, and so are we. Under our discredited voting system, every councillor in SW6 is a Conservative.

We need a proper voting system such as the single transferable vote used in Scottish councils and Northern Ireland, to give voters a genuine choice between candidates, eliminate 'safe seats' and marginalise extremists, and avoid giving any one party a monopoly of power
