A Fresh Start for Hammersmith Broadway

Vote Meerav Shah on February 20th

Hammersmith Broadway deserves better. Labour has taken residents for granted, while the Conservatives have failed to stand up for our community. On February 20th, you have the chance to elect a dedicated local voice who will fight for real change: Meerav Shah, your Liberal Democrat candidate.

Meerav at the Peabody Estate

A Local Champion Who Delivers

Meerav is a committed local resident who actively stands up for his community. Unlike Labour’s candidate, he genuinely lives in Hammersmith Broadway on the Peabody Estate.

He has supported tenants in challenging unfair housing conditions and securing essential repairs. As an active member of the Peabody Tenant Association, he remains closely engaged with local issues. He regularly attends Hammersmith Broadway Metropolitan Police Panel meetings, pushing for tougher action on theft and safer streets. Passionate about the arts, Meerav has helped fundraise for Riverside Studios, backing their Rally for Riverside campaign to keep the venue open and continue running children’s workshops during school holidays.

Holding Labour to Account

Hammersmith & Fulham Council, dominated by Labour, has repeatedly failed to deliver. Despite years of promises, Charing Cross Hospital faces delays to refurbishment up to 2039. The Conservatives pledged investment in 2019, yet Labour has let the project stagnate. Meanwhile, crime remains a pressing concern, and the poor water quality of the Thames is ignored, endangering public health and the environment.

My Plan for Hammersmith Broadway

If elected, I will prioritise:

  1. Tackling Theft & Anti-Social Behaviour: Crime is rising, and residents do not feel safe. Theft from individuals is on the rise (up 40% from 2023), and police resources are stretched thin. I will campaign for more visible policing, better lighting, and improved CCTV to deter criminals and protect our community.
  2. Securing Investment for Charing Cross Hospital: Vital health services are under threat as Labour continues to delay much-needed upgrades. The Liberal Democrats will fight to ensure that Charing Cross Hospital gets the funding it needs so that NHS staff and patients receive the support they deserve.
  3. Restoring Our River: The Thames is in crisis due to sewage overflows and pollution, posing serious environmental and public health risks. I will pressure Thames Water to invest in the network, alongside locally advocate for better education for children and adults alike around improving our river biodiversity. I further will push for improved infrastructure to prevent flooding onto walkways, ensuring a cleaner and safer river for all.
  4. Improving Social Housing: Living on the Peabody Estate, I have seen firsthand the challenges residents face with bureaucratic housing associations. I will fight for better social housing conditions across both council-managed properties and other housing associations. Specifically, I will push for stricter quality control in council housing to ensure repairs are logged appropriately and done right the first time. I will further push for essential upgrades like double glazing to improve living conditions for all residents.

Only the Lib Dems Can Beat Labour Here

It's time Hammersmith Broadway deserved a visible councillor that actually lives in the area.

The Conservatives are out of the race—it’s a straight fight between Labour’s candidate that has been parachuted in and a real local champion who will get things done.
